Never Give Up, Never Surrender: Real Gone To Debut the Soundtracks to “Galaxy Quest” and “American Beauty” on Vinyl in May

Next month, Real Gone is debuting two films scores on vinyl.  Both hail from 1999 and feature the work of brothers David and Thomas Newman.  The siblings are also famously the sons of noted film composer Alfred Newman and cousins to Randy Newman. Varese Unveils First CD Club Batch of 40th Anniversary Year with Williams, Goldsmith Expansions

40 years ago, Varese Sarabande Records launched with the soundtrack to writer-director Bruce Kimmel’s The First Nudie Musical.  Today, the label (recently acquired by Concord Music Group) continues to serve the soundtrack community with an impressive array of releases from both past and present.  Its limited edition CD club has recently announced its first four titles marking the company’s 40th anniversary. Intrada Goes to Vietnam for Two Rare Disney Scores

Intrada has released two very different scores to two live action Disney comedies, both based on true events of the Vietnam War–as unbelievable as that may seem. Alex North’s score to Good Morning, Vietnam and David Newman’s score to Operation Dumbo Drop have been dusted off for a 2-for-1 release on CD. Good Morning, Vietnam featured late funnyman Robin Williams as Adrian Cronauer, a real-life disc jockey on the Armed Forces Radio Service.
