Bon Jovi’s The Albums includes all 14 of the group’s studio efforts, from 1984’s blistering-glam self-titled debut to the just-released This House is Not for Sale, the first album without longtime guitarist Richie Sambora. Eleven of these albums have hit the Billboard Top 10 since 1986’s chart-topping breakthrough Slippery When Wet; of those, six of these albums (includingThis House is Not for Sale) have hit No. 1. Golden Earring, The Complete Studio Recordings (Red Bullet/Universal) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

Dutch rockers Golden Earring are the subject of a comprehensive box set from Red Bullet/Universal Music.  The Complete Studio Recordings collects 26 (!) of the group’s albums released between 1965 and 2015 (!), with an additional three discs of single and B-side material. Eighteen of these albums reached the Top 10 on the Dutch charts, with seven (including their most recent full-length album, 2012’s Tits ‘N Ass), reaching No. 1.  With comprehensive liner notes by local journalist Tjerk Lammers, Golden Earring’s Complete Studio Recordings is a fitting tribute to a band that’s been rocking for over five decades.  Read more here!

David Bowie, Live Nassau Coliseum ’76 (Parlophone/Rhino) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

Bowie’s concert of March 23, 1976 was originally released as part of the deluxe Station to Station box set in 2010 and reprised in last year’s Who Can I Be Now? collection.  Now, the double-disc live show finally receives a stand-alone edition on both CD and vinyl as part of today’s rollout of individual titles “broken out” of that box set.  Other titles being reissued today include Young Americans, Station to Station, Diamond Dogs, and David Live on CD and vinyl.  (The Gouster remains exclusive to the box.)

Arthur Lee, Arthur Lee (Friday Music) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

Arthur Lee’s 1981 solo album is re-pressed by Friday Music on CD.  The late Love frontman provided the liner notes for this album, on which he revisited “7 and 7 Is” and paid tribute to his band with “I Do Wonder.”

JOE MARCHESE (Editor) joined The Second Disc shortly after its launch in early 2010, and has since penned daily news and reviews about classic music of all genres. In 2015, Joe formed the Second Disc Records label. Celebrating the great songwriters, producers and artists who created the sound of American popular song and beyond, Second Disc Records, in conjunction with labels including Real Gone Music and Cherry Red Records, has released newly-curated collections produced and annotated by Joe from iconic artists such as Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, The Spinners, Johnny Mathis, Bobby Darin, Meat Loaf, Laura Nyro, Melissa Manchester, Liza Minnelli, Darlene Love, Al Stewart, Michael Nesmith, and many others.

Joe has written liner notes, produced, or contributed to over 200 reissues from a diverse array of artists, among them America, JD Souther, Nat "King" Cole, Paul Williams, Lesley Gore, Dusty Springfield, BJ Thomas, The 5th Dimension, Burt Bacharach, The Mamas and the Papas, Carpenters, Perry Como, Rod McKuen, Doris Day, Jackie DeShannon, Petula Clark, Robert Goulet, and Andy Williams.

Over the past two decades, Joe has also worked in a variety of capacities on and off Broadway as well as at some of the premier theatres in the U.S., including Lincoln Center Theater, George Street Playhouse, Paper Mill Playhouse, Long Wharf Theatre, and the York Theatre Company. He has felt privileged to work on productions alongside artists such as the late Jack Klugman, Eli Wallach, Arthur Laurents, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. In 2009, Joe began contributing theatre and music reviews to the print publication The Sondheim Review, and in 2012, he joined the staff of The Digital Bits as a regular contributor writing about film and television on DVD and Blu-ray.

Joe currently resides in the suburbs of New York City.

  1. Just picked up ” David Bowie Live Nassau Coliseum’ 76 ” Wow ! what a great live album. Bowie is on fire. His vocals are right on . The band is top notch. The recording and mix are about as perfect as you can get. I was lucky enough to see Bowie live 3 times. I would highly recommend this CD. DJ Berexa Pgh, Pa
