Next Saturday, April 12, is certainly one of the most packed Record Store Days in recent memory. Since the list was announced, we drilled down on titles from Craft Recordings, Legacy Recordings, Rhino Records, Universal Music Group, Real Gone Music, Omnivore Recordings, BMG, Cooking Vinyl and Demon Music Group, as well as some notable titles that were getting later general releases on CD.
Well, if you thought that was it, you're wrong! We pored and pored over the list and are here to share with you more than four dozen one-offs, archival treasures, obscurities and things that'll only be available outside of American Record Store Day participants. From the '60s to today, covering every kind of genre imaginable, you'd be hard pressed to find something on this list (or our previous posts!) that won't at least make you slow your scroll. We certainly did!
Have a look for your favorites and keep an eye out for one last round-up from the TSD team, where we highlight our favorites of this super-sized batch!
Bryan Adams & Tina Turner, It's Only Love (Bad) (7" Single - RSD U.K. exclusive)
In 2022, Bryan Adams performed a classic rocker's rite of passage, re-recording 15 soundalike versions of his hits as master recordings he himself owns and releasing them on the albums Classic and Classic Pt. II. Another one's coming for Record Store Day in the U.K., with an exciting twist: in studying the original multi-track recordings, Adams found some unused vocal takes from the late, great Tina Turner on "It's Only Love," her duet with the Canadian singer on 1984's Reckless. With the permission of her estate, those tracks have been incorporated into two mixes of the re-recorded version, a "rock" version and a stripped-down "Midnight Mix."
Adam and The Ants, Prince Charming (Sony Music) (Gold LP - RSD U.K. exclusive)
The third and final album in Adam Ant's original invasion steps out of the shadow of predecessor Kings of the Wild Frontier with the U.K. chart-topping singles "Stand and Deliver" and the title track as well as the out-there "Ant Rap," a Top 5 hit in England. (The French Revolution-inspired look of Ant in this era was one of his best, too!)
The Art of Noise, Impressions of For+ever--& The Making of Moments in Love (ZTT/UMR) (Red LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)
For its 40th anniversary, ZTT goes deep into The Art of Noise's landmark single "Moments in Love" with a new compilation that offers a side of mostly unreleased studio sessions and pre-release versions, and another of period remixes (including the vinyl debut of the cassette-only Tortoise and the Hare suite). The sleeve also features new liner notes.
The Blasters, An American Music Story: The Complete Studio Recordings 1979-1985 (Liberation Hall) (5LP; 1000 copies; RSD U.S. exclusive)
Following last year's release of Live at The Venue, London: The Complete Concert, Liberation Hall returns to the catalogue of The Blasters with this 5LP box containing all four of the band's studio albums - American Music, The Blasters, Non Fiction and Hard Line - plus an LP of rarities. The box also boasts a 24-page book featuring liner notes by Chris Morris and interviews with the band members as well as rare photos. A poster is also included in this set which is strictly limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies.
Boomtown Rats, Dawn of the Rats: Demos, B-Sides & Live 1975-1979 (Mercury/UMR) (Green LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)
Here's a collection of early, raw live demos from Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats, including the four songs which earned the Rats a recording contract. The live tracks are supplemented by the band's B-sides, some of which have never appeared on CD or LP.
Jeff Bridges, Slow Magic, 1977-1978 (Light in the Attic) (Transparent Blue LP; 1500 copies; RSD exclusive)
Years before The Big Lebowski made him a pop cultural elder icon but well into a celebrated acting career that by then had two Oscar nominations to his name, Jeff Bridges had also spent parts of the '70s indulging his passion for music. Slow Magic is a chronicle of a period during which he recorded some genre-bending jam sessions with a group of "childhood friends, artists, and assorted L.A. oddballs." (The full list of players hasn't been revealed, but Rocky co-star Burgess Meredith apparently features on the cassette-sourced offering.) Featuring new liner notes by Sam Sweet that includes a new interview with the 75-year-old actor and a slew of unseen photos, it's something that'll really tie your record collection together.
Alex Chilton, Set (Bar/None) ("Sunburst Splash" LP; 950 copies; RSD Regional release)
Recorded in New York City in 1999 after a bar gig (and released on CD the following year), Set finds the Big Star frontman and his backing trio (bassist Ron Easley and drummer Richard Dworkin) working through a marathon studio session comprised mostly of R&B covers. It's being released here on vinyl for the first time.
CHVRCHES, Every Open Eye (10th Anniversary Special Edition) (Glassnote) (Transparent Blue 2LP; 2500 copies; RSD First release)
After the thrill of the Scottish electronic trio's debut The Bones of What You Believe, CHVRCHES proved themselves a formidable act with sophomore album Every Open Eye. This new 2LP mixes the 2015 album - featuring favorites like "Leave a Trace," "Clearest Blue" and "Make Them Gold" with a newly-compiled set of rare B-sides and remixes, including "Warning Call" (from the video game Mirror's Edge Catalyst) and a re-recording of "Bury It" cast as a duet between singer Lauren Mayberry and Hayley Williams of Paramore.
The Colourfield, Virgins & Philistines (40th Anniversary Edition) (Chrysalis) (Yellow 2LP; RSD exclusive)
The U.K. band fronted by Terry Hall (The Specials, Fun Boy Three) offers a newly-remastered double vinyl edition of their 1985 debut album, Virgins & Philistines. The second disc features non-LP singles and B-sides.
Dead or Alive, You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) (Music on Vinyl) (12" Singles; RSD U.K. exclusive)
Beyond Edsel's Youthquake reissue and companion RSD piece, Music on Vinyl is also getting into the Dead or Alive game this spring, releasing not one but two 12" singles featuring a total of six original and later-period remixes of their signature hit off that album, "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)." The B-sides promise "full colour picture[s]."
Kenny Dorham, Blue Bossa in the Bronx: Live from The Blue Morocco (Resonance) (180g 2LP; 2500 copies; RSD exclusive)
Resonance has unearthed a live recording of trumpeter Kenny Dorham, recorded in 1967 at The Blue Morocco in the Bronx. Dorham is joined on this set by Sonny Red, Cedar Walton, Paul Chambers, and Dennis Charles. Matthew Lutthans has mastered, and Bob Blumenthal provides new liner notes. In addition to the RSD release, this title is due on CD April 18.
Eurythmics, Be Yourself Tonight (Sony Music U.K.) (Picture Disc - RSD U.K. exclusive)
Perhaps the most commercially accessible of Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart's work as Eurythmics, 1985's Be Yourself Tonight is packed with guest appearances (Aretha Franklin on "Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves," a Stevie Wonder harmonica solo on "There Must Be An Angel (Playing with My Heart)," Elvis Costello on "Adrian") plus inarguable bangers like "Would I Lie to You?" and "It's Alright (Baby's Coming Back)."
The Fall, Country on the Click (The Complete Collector's Edition) (Cherry Red) (Red/Yellow LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)
The original U.K. edition of this 2003 album by The Fall, called The Real New Fall LP, was released in an incorrect sequence not approved by the band, and never re-pressed. This edition marks the first time Country on the Click has been issued in its proper sequence on vinyl.
Brad Fiedel, The Serpent & the Rainbow (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Varese Sarabande) ("Vodou Blue" 2LP; 1800 copies; RSD First release)

The gatefold packaging includes an 11.5" x 11.5" insert featuring new reminiscences from Harris and Miller.
George Harrison/Beck, Be Here Now (RSD Song of the Year) (7" Single; 3000 copies; RSD exclusive) / George Harrison, All Things Must Pass (Dark Horse) (Zoetrope Picture Disc 3LP; 2300 copies; RSD exclusive)
RSD's had its share of ambassadors - this year's is rap/pop/country artist Post Malone - but this year it has an official song, too: George Harrison's "Be Here Now," off 1974's Living in the Material World. This single - the sales of which will donate proceeds to Harrison's Material World Foundation - features last year's remix from a 50th anniversary reissue and a cover by Beck, previously only available as an Apple Music exclusive. Additionally, Harrison's landmark post-Beatles solo album All Things Must Pass will get a unique Record Store Day pressing, as a trippy triple zoetrope vinyl pressing.
The Hives, Tyrannosaurus Hives (Polydor/UMR) (White/Gold LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)
This Swedish quintet made loud, kind of gloriously dumb rock 'n' roll, evidenced on 2000's breakthrough single "Hate to Say I Told You So." By the time 2004's Tyrannosaurus Hives rolled around, this particular indie-rock sound was doing big business for labels and - burnished by songs like "Walk Idiot Walk" and "Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones" - the album became one of their best sellers.
Cissy Houston, Legacy (Janus) (Purple/Pink 2LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)
This set celebrates the late, great Cissy Houston's Janus recordings; her 1970 Janus LP was issued on CD in 2012 from SoulMusic Records with a host of bonus singles from the period, some of which may be featured on this new collection. Legacy also promises liner notes and gatefold artwork.
Freddie Hubbard, On Fire: Live from The Blue Morocco (Resonance) (3LP; 1500 copies; RSD exclusive)

Hubbard's 1967 set features Bennie Maupin, Kenny Barron, Herbie Lewis, and Freddie Waits; the package includes new liner notes from producer John Koenig as well as interviews from Hubbard's collaborators and followers. A CD edition is due on April 18 from Resonance, as well.
Maurice Jarre/Val Kilmer, Top Secret! (Soundtrack) (Rusted Wave/1984 Publishing) (Clear LP; 1000 copies; RSD Regional release)
The winning trio of Jerry Zucker, Jim Abrahams and David Zucker followed up the smash hit Airplane! with this spy spoof they co-wrote and directed. The soundtrack, released on CD by La-La Land Records in 2022, featured score by Maurice Jarre and a mix of goofy and sincere pop songs sung by the late, great Val Kilmer, who made his film debut in this comedy. Those songs (and highlights from the score) make up this vinyl release!
The Jesus and Mary Chain, > 45s > 84 > 85 < (Rhino) (Red/Black Splatter LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)
Scottish brothers Jim and William Reid helped usher in a new movement in alt-rock in the '80s as the nucleus of The Jesus and Mary Chain. This new collection showcases all 13 single sides issued before and during the release of their breakthrough 1985 debut Psychocandy, including "Upside Down," "Never Understand," "You Trip Me Up" and "Just Like Honey."
Gloria Jones, Tainted Love / My Bad Boy's Comin' Home (Champion) ("Diamond" 7" Single; 1000 copies; RSD U.K. exclusive)

Singer-songwriter Nick Lowe and his musical cohorts, the masked band Los Straitjackets, are back with a new live album. (Not) Indoor Safari - a riff on the title of their most recent studio album, last year's Indoor Safari - offers 10 rollicking tunes, both from that LP and stretching back to the classic likes of "When I Write the Book" and "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding."
Shane MacGowan & Sinéad O'Connor, Haunted (ZTT/UMR) (Clear 12" single; RSD U.K. exclusive)
Originally recorded by The Pogues for the soundtrack to Sid and Nancy, the Celtic punk band's unmistakable frontman Shane MacGowan (who, at the time, was instead fronting his own group The Popes after getting canned from his old band) gave "Haunted" a new life as a duet with Sinéad O'Connor for a different soundtrack, 1996's forgotten Sandra Bullock/Denis Leary romantic comedy Two If by Sea (released overseas as Stolen Hearts). The original CD single, featuring two cuts from The Popes' 1994 release The Snake and a non-LP MacGowan cover of Neil Diamond's "Cracklin' Rosie," is slated for a RSD and digital release this month.

Van Morrison, Be Just and Fear Not (Orangefield) (10"; RSD U.K. exclusive)
Be Just and Fear Not is compiled from "three songs that Van initially wanted to keep off his most recent release, Live at Orangefield. Van always felt these three tracks worked on their own and not as part of the overall album." Here they are, as Morrison originally intended.
Original Cast, Wicked: The Soundtrack (Republic) (Green/Pink Glitter 2LP; 2000 copies; RSD exclusive)
Last year's film adaptation of Stephen Schwartz's modern classic Broadway musical cast Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in Oscar-nominated turns as the witches of Oz like you've never seen (or heard) them before. While you wait for the adaptation of the show's second act this fall, you've got a chance to grab the film's soundtrack as a collectible vinyl, featuring a poster as well as the format debut of the digital bonus cut "Ozdust Duet," a score cue from composer John Powell. If you've not taken the time to defy gravity, Record Store Day is the right occasion!
Graham Parker & The Figgs, The Last Rock 'N' Roll Tour (Iconoclassic) (Pink 2LP; 700 copies; RSD Regional release)
Starting in the '90s, Graham Parker began touring (and eventually recording) with The Figgs, a New York-based rock band briefly signed to Capitol whose energy evoked that of Parker's most renowned sidemen in The Rumour. This 1996 live club show, released on vinyl for the first time, draws from those early Rumour albums to great effect; it's been freshly remastered with a slightly rearranged and expanded track order, plus liner notes from Parker and Gent of The Figgs.
Propaganda, p:Machinery - the αlpha:βeta definition (ZTT/UMR) (Clear 12" Single; RSD U.K. exclusive)
To coincide with both its 40th anniversary and its usage in a U.K. Renault television ad campaign, ZTT is reissuing Propaganda's "p:Machinery" as a nine-track EP, three of which are previously unreleased on vinyl and four of which are tracks from the Disturbdances series first heard on Propaganda's 2019 RSD box set.
Suzi Quatro, Your Mamma Won't Like Me (50th Anniversary Edition) (Chrysalis) (White/Black 2LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)

The Rolling Stones, Out of Our Heads (U.S.) (ABKCO) (180g Clear LP; 6500 copies; RSD First release)
The Stones' fourth American album - the first LP to feature two significant Mick Jagger-Keith Richards originals in "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" and "The Last Time" - turns 60 this year, and the occasion will be marked with a fresh new vinyl remaster of the album's mono mix, sourced from the original first generation analog tapes and packaged with an exclusive lithograph.

With Sly Stone fever at a high thanks to the recent documentary from The Roots' drummer Questlove, two Record Store Day titles will celebrate his early genius. High Moon's The First Family offers a 1967 live set that just predates their tenure with Epic Records, while the U.K. exclusive The Autumn Sessions focuses on Stone's earliest writing, production and artistry on the staff of San Francisco's Autumn Records.
Dusty Springfield, Reputation (Rhino) (Pink LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)
Dusty Springfield's 1990 album featuring Pet Shop Boys and Julian Mendelsohn's productions of "In Private," "Nothing Has Been Proved," and "I Want to Stay Here" also boasts productions and songs from Dan Hartman, Allee Willis, Rupert Hine, Andy Richards, and Paul Staveley O'Duffy. It's being reissued onto vinyl for its 35th anniversary.
A Tribe Called Quest, The Low End Theory (Sony Music) (Red/Green Splatter LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)
The 1991 sophomore set from A Tribe Called Quest makes its ex-U.S. debut on colored vinyl. From "Check the Rhime" to the classic closer "Scenario," Tribe's second album is a towering hip-hop achievement, and it'll be back on vinyl for U.K. Record Store Day fans.

Various Artists, The Westbound Sound: Foundations (Westbound Records Curated by RSD, Vol. 2) (ORG) (LP; 2000 copies; RSD exclusive)
The Curated by RSD series might be familiar to longtime collectors for its deep dives into the Sun catalogue; now, the line has turned to Detroit's Westbound Records. This second volume devoted to that label has tracks from the Ohio Players, Funkadelic, the Fantastic Four, and Neil Diamond's longtime percussionist King Errisson, among others.
Tom Waits, Get Behind the Mule (Spiritual) / Get Behind the Mule (Anti-) (7" Single; 3000 copies; RSD First release)
This single features a previously unreleased alternate take of Waits' Mule Variations track "Get Behind the Mule" with the singer accompanied by a Wurlitzer organ. Could an expanded edition of the singer-songwriter's seminal 1999 album be on the way?
Wall of Voodoo, The Lost Tapes (Label 51) (2LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)
The L.A. rock band - underground favorites who hit it big when 1982's "Mexican Radio" was picked up by then-fledgling MTV - collects a double album's worth of rarities.
Wang Chung, Everybody Have Fun Tonight (SING Inc.) (Orange 10" Single; 1500 copies; RSD exclusive)
Ahead of the new career-spanning compilation Clear Light Dark Matter in May, this 10" of signature song "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" features the song in three versions - new club and dub mixes by remixer/DJ Eric Kupper, and a version from the duo's show at the El Mocambo in Toronto last year. (A take on The Breakfast Club soundtrack cut "Fire in the Twilight" from the same show rounds out the B-side.)
Scott Weiland, I Know It's Too Late (Primary Wave) (Orange 7" Single; 1200 copies; RSD exclusive)
"Happy" in Galoshes, the final album of original solo material from the late Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland, was intended as a double album when it was released in 2008, and a limited deluxe edition added seven tracks to the original 13 in a resequenced running order. If you downloaded the album on iTunes, however, there was an extra track, "I Know It's Too Late," now released on vinyl for the first time with a live version of lead track "Missing Cleveland" recorded in...Los Angeles.
Clarence White, Melodies from a Byrd in Flyte: 1963-1973 (Liberation Hall) (LP; 1200 copies; RSD First release)
This release has 14 tracks (one side acoustic and the other electric) from The Byrds' Clarence White. Spanning much of White's too-short career - he died in 1973 at the age of 29 after being killed by a drunk driver - these tracks feature the groundbreaking country-rock guitarist supported by a host of guests including Roger McGuinn, The Everly Brothers, Gene Parsons, Skip Battin, Eric Weissberg, and Byron Berline.
The Who, Tommy (Original Soundtrack Recording) (Polydor/UMR) (Color 2LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)
Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the film adaptation of The Who's 1969 concept album about a "deaf, dumb and blind kid" whose steady pinball hand unlocks a major spiritual awakening, the film's original soundtrack will be reissued on colored vinyl. All your favorite covers of Pete Townshend's classics are here, including guest appearances by Eric Clapton, Tina Turner and Elton John.
Yusuf / Cat Stevens, Back to Earth (Dark Horse) (LP; RSD U.K. exclusive)
Cat's 1976 album (last expanded on a 2019 box set) returns to vinyl in a gatefold presentation boasting a lenticular cover that will appear animated.
The 13th Floor Elevators, Houston Music Theater, Live 1967 (LMLR) (Blue/Black Marbled LP; 4000 copies; RSD exclusive)
This 1967 live set from Texas' psychedelic pioneers - intended as their sophomore album decades ago - makes its debut appearance in a restored mono mix. Tracks include "Reverberation" and "You're Gonna Miss Me."
Would happily buy that Blasters set if it were issued on CD. Alas.
Fwiw, between the 1997 Hightone remaster/reissue of American Music and the 2002 2-CD release, Testament: The Complete Slash Recordings, by Rhino, I think of all this is already available on CD in good sound quality. Copies of both can be found for relatively reasonable prices on Discogs, for example.
Might I add the double-LP of Patsy Cline: Imagine That - The Lost Recordings (1954-1963) from Elemental Music/Deep Digs?

Pharoah Sanders- Izipho Zam (My Gifts) (Mack Avenue)
Mack Avenue just began a reissue campaign for the legendary jazz label Strata-East, and this is one of the best of both the label and the artist. Recorded 1969, a month before his breakthrough Karma for Impulse, but not released until 1973 when its producer Clifford Jordan reached out to the like-minded label. (The whole story is told in Mosaic's "Complete Clifford Jordan Strata-East Sessions.")
