Review: Ramones, "Road to Ruin: 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition"
The Ramones entered New York's Mediasound Studios in May 1978 with their mission clearly laid out: to achieve radio airplay and mainstream success without sacrificing their punk values. It wasn't such a far-fetched idea; a love of '60s pop had been ingrained in the band since their debut. For their fourth album, Road to Ruin, the band would continue on the path blazed on 1977's Rocket to Russia with stronger playing, stronger production, stronger songwriting, bigger hooks, and more varied

Since that time, the singer-songwriter has placed 25 singles within the chart's top 40 and released ten studio albums. She became the first British solo female artist to top the country's album chart and the first female artist, period, to enter the album chart at No. 1. Yet despite such accolades, Bush has never wavered from her own, truly singular career

From Lulu, With Love: Edsel Preps New Box Set "Decade: 1967-1976" For Singing Superstar
Lulu (real name: Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie) burst onto the scene in 1964 with her earthy, throaty rendition of The Isley Brothers' "Shout!" Review: The Doors, "Waiting for the Sun: 50th Anniversary Edition"
Upon its release in July 1968, some might have found the title of The Doors' third album, Waiting for the Sun, to be ironic. After all, Jim Morrison, Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek, and John Densmore, were hardly ever in pursuit of anything remotely sunny. But the album, with its rather bucolic cover shot, most certainly struck a chord with listeners in the year between The Summer of Love and Woodstock. Waiting for the Sun became the band's only No. 1 album, and included the No. 1 single "Hello,
Through A Glass Onion: The Second Disc Hears Selections From The Beatles' "White Album" Box
NEW YORK, NY - "We live in a perfect world of [these] anodyne, Instagrammed, perfect photographs, in-tune music, and everything in time, and The Beatles weren't that. The Beatles had a heartbeat to them, and the story of 'The White Album' is the story of that heartbeat, if you'd like." Last Wednesday morning, September 26, Giles Martin was holding court for an audience of about 70 at New York's famed Record Plant. The subject was, of course, the legendary 1968 double-LP formally named The

Review: Electric Light Orchestra, "The U.K. Singles Volume One: 1972-1978"
The A-side of Electric Light Orchestra's first 45 had been originally written for The Move, but once it was recorded, it was clear to songwriter-producer Jeff Lynne and his co-producer and bandmate Roy Wood that "10538 Overture" was the sound of a different band altogether. Wood had overdubbed what he later remembered as a "cheap Chinese cello" onto the driving track which the two singers/multi-instrumentalists had created with the aid of Bill Hunt on French horn and Steve Woolam on violin.
