Howard Hewett Im for Real

As we await the February 17 release of Dionne Warwick's Sure Thing: The Warner Bros. Recordings (1972-1977) box set from SoulMusic Records and Cherry Red, the time is right to revisit the label's two final packages of 2022.  Today, a 4-CD package from soul man Howard Hewett takes the spotlight, with the next installment featuring a 6-CD box from the group Starpoint. Stacy Lattisaw Cotillion Years

Stacy Lattisaw was just twelve years old when she made her major label debut on Atlantic Records' Cotillion imprint with Young and in Love.  The Washington, DC native with the pure, effervescent voice stayed at Cotillion for seven albums, maturing with each successive set.  Now, her discography for the label has been collected on Cherry Red/Robinsongs' new 7-CD box set The Cotillion Years 1979-1985 featuring all seven albums plus selected bonus tracks. One of the final projects produced by

warner sound of bacharach

In his 85th year, Burt Bacharach has kept a pace that would wear out many a younger man.  In addition to performing a number of concert engagements, the Oscar, Grammy and Gershwin Prize-winning composer has released a memoir, continued work on three musical theatre projects, co-written songs with Bernie Taupin and J.D. Souther, and even penned a melody for Japanese singer Ringo Sheena.  Though Bacharach keeps moving forward, numerous releases this year have looked back on his illustrious

A neat duo of reissues is on the way later this month from Funkytown Grooves - two R&B women on Motown Records in the 1980s. The label is prepping expanded reissues of Stacy Lattisaw's Take Me All the Way (which spawned the Top 5 R&B and Dance hit "Nail It to the Wall") and Set My Love in Motion, a 1981 LP by Syreeta Wright (the late ex-wife of Stevie Wonder). Each release will be accompanied by two 12" single tracks each. Pre-order links are here and here; track lists are after the
