  1. Any comment on the sound quality of the Miles Davis Bluenote?

Is it RVG remastered? Does it include the “Somethin’ Else” (under Cannonball’s name)?

    1. I haven’t listened yet, so I can’t comment on sound quality, but here’s some additional info about the Miles:

The 2-CD set is packaged in a hardbound book format, and contains the complete contents of the 10-inch LPs YOUNG MAN WITH A HORN, MILES DAVIS VOL. 2 & MILES DAVIS VOL. 3. The set is rounded out by the alternate takes issued on the 12-inch LPs MILES DAVIS VOL. 1 & 2, and the expanded CD issues of those two releases.

Cannonball’s SOMETHIN’ ELSE isn’t included as the purview is just the albums with Miles as named leader.

The set has been produced by Harry Weinger and remastered by Kevin Reeves, sourced from the high resolution masters created by Bernie Grundman.

Hope this helps! Further Blue Note 75 CD sets are coming from John Coltrane and Clifford Brown; we’ll have more details on those projects soon.

  2. Thanks for the info. I do think that deleting “Somethin’ Else” is absurd, as it is a pure Miles Davis album…all the way.
