Won’t Cry for Yesterday: Duran Duran’s Mid-’90s Albums Re-Appear on Vinyl for the First Time in Decades

Ever since EMI – yes, before their assets were divided between Universal and Warner Music Groups – expanded the Duran Duran catalogue with deluxe reissues in 2009 and 2010, fans have hoped that the shepherd of their most prominent major label material (now Parlophone, through Warner) would complete the campaign with reissues of the band’s last three albums originally released through Parlophone/Capitol. That day has finally (sort of) come with long-requested vinyl editions of two of those mid-’90s albums. Parlophone will reissue 1993’s Duran Duran (The Wedding Album) and 1995 follow-up Thank You as…

The Weekend Stream Extra: A Guide to ‘MTV Unplugged’ on Paramount+ (Part 2)

Welcome to a special Sunday feature of The Weekend Stream, which takes a look at one of MTV’s great live music programs thanks to a recent reissue of one of its best-known episodes. We’re running a five-part deep-dive on every episode of MTV Unplugged that’s currently streaming on the station’s parent streaming network Paramount+! (Part 1 can be read here.) The evolution of MTV Unplugged was not unlike that of the network itself. If those first years on the air from 1989 to 1991 were proof of the format’s artistic viability, the episodes recorded…

The collection will also be…

Tomorrow, Record Store Day is once again upon us! It’s that time of year where music lovers and vinyl flippers get together at their favorite physical music retailers and wait in line to snag some treasured albums – almost all of which are pressed on vinyl instead of CD (or, you know, sold on secondary marketplaces for above their retail value).  This year, the list tops out at over 300 titles, so there’s very nearly something for everybody.  It wasn’t easy to narrow our choices down to around 20 titles, but here…

This year, the company has prepped a baker’s dozen special vinyl titles for the RSD festivities on Saturday, April 12, drawing from a list of well-known acts or…

This Time La Luna: Duran Duran Expand ‘Danse Macabre’ One Year from Its Original Release

As we get closer to the time when there’s a chill in the air and a penchant for “spooky season,” Duran Duran are getting back into the spirit with an expanded version of their last album, meant to celebrate all things strange and unusual. 2023’s Danse Macabre came just two years after the release of Future Past in 2021 – the shortest gap between new LPs from the band since the mid-’90s. The band were certainly riding high: Future Past was a celebration of what made the Birmingham group so beloved 40 years on from their…

Can You Hear Me Now: Duran Duran’s ’80s Studio Catalogue Back in Print in July

Look now, look all around: Duran Duran’s five studio albums from the ’80s were stunningly out of print physically, but that changes this summer. Warner Music, who acquired Duran Duran’s Capitol/EMI catalogue as part of Parlophone Records in 2013 after it was divested in EMI’s sale to Universal Music Group, will release new CD and vinyl pressings of Duran Duran (1981), Rio (1982), Seven and the Ragged Tiger (1983), Notorious (1986) and Big Thing (1989). They will utilize the same remasters issued as deluxe editions by EMI in 2009 and 2010 – a point of controversy, as the sound quality…
