TAMI Show and Big TNT Show

While we normally concentrate on CD reissues here at The Second Disc, we do occasionally like to highlight other titles which we think may be of interest to our readers.  One such project, just announced from Shout! Factory, certainly qualifies:  a 2-disc Blu-ray set entitled the T.A.M.I. Show/The Big T.N.T. Show Collector's Edition due out on December 2. Directed by Steve Binder, T.A.M.I. Show (meaning either "Teenage Awards Music International" or "Teen Age Music International") was filmed

Rolling Stones in Mono

With an expansion of their acoustic live album Stripped, a gallery exhibition and a South American documentary all bowing this year, The Rolling Stones aren't letting up in 2016. Now, it looks like we can add one more to their busy year: a box set of the band's ABKCO-controlled discography, all released in mono. The Rolling Stones in Mono captures, on 15 CDs or 16 LPs, the original mono albums released on both sides of the Atlantic between 1964 and 1969. While The Beatles waited for some time

Bill Wyman White Lightnin

Earlier this year, erstwhile Rolling Stone bassist Bill Wyman released Back to Basics, his fifth solo album and first in over two decades.  The time couldn't be better, then, to revisit Wyman's past work apart from his former bandmates.  Edsel has happily obliged with two new multi-disc collections in the Bill Wyman's Recording Archives series showcasing Wyman's own musical melange of blues, soul, pop, and rock-and-roll.  The 4-CD/1-DVD White Lightnin': The Solo Box reissues and expands Wyman's

rollingstones

Who says one of the oldest and biggest rock bands in the world can't keep their digital presence somewhat fresh? The Rolling Stones this week unveiled a revamp of their 50-year catalogue on iTunes, including two new digital box sets that collect the majority of their standard discography. While the Stones' catalogue has long been part of the digital music service, they're the latest act to reintroduce their albums in "Mastered For iTunes" format. While tireless physical music enthusiasts might

Here in the U. S. of A., Black Friday is almost upon us: that unusual date following the prior day of giving thanks, in which consumers make a mad dash to the local big-box store, mall or shopping center to procure bargains for the holiday season ahead.  Retailers are controversially beginning Black Friday “festivities” even earlier than usual this year, with many sales starting on Thanksgiving Day itself and not even at midnight but in the early part of the evening.  For a number of recent
