Welcome back to another edition of The Weekend Stream, The Second Disc’s review of notable catalogue titles making digital debuts, plus new works from legacy acts and even some personally curated favorites. The elder British/Irish rock contingent is alive and well, with new music from U2, Peter Gabriel and Ringo Starr plus new remixes from Sting; there’s also quite a bit of country (from Jim Reeves and Ricky Skaggs to…Disney?) and jazz (Monk, Maynard and more) to go around. U2, Easter Lily EP (Island) (Apple / Amazon) More prolific (and present) than they’ve…

Night Flight: Led Zeppelin’s “Live EP” Celebrates 50 Years of “Physical Graffiti”
Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti, originally released in February 1975, arrived almost two years after the band’s last album, Houses of the Holy. It turned 50 earlier this year, and now Rhino is marking the occasion with a new Live EP due on 180-gram 12″ vinyl, CD, and digital/streaming services on September 12. On the same date, the label will reissue 2015’s Deluxe Edition on…

Originally released in 2000, less than a year after it was recorded, Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes’ Live At The Greek was a double album featuring the group and the former Led Zeppelin guitarist tearing through renditions of classics from the latter band’s catalogue, plus a heap of blues standards. Now…

Ramble On! Review: The Led Zeppelin Remasters – “I,” “II” and “III”
Led Zeppelin wasn’t built in a day. “Good Times Bad Times,” the first track off the hard rock combo’s first album, today sounds very much of its time and also unusually forward-thinking. The crunchy riff that introduces the track augured for the amped-up sound of metal to come, but the opening verse and chorus still have one foot in mod pop. John…
